Forest Life

Enchantment for Children of all ages, "Forest-Life" introduces "Mytri the Forest Fairy", who pedals her own child-size Gypsy Wagon. Her wings and legs move realistically, and her eyes sparkle, inviting little ones to come close and marvel...

What inspired you to make this project?:
I'd had this idea in my head for 10 years or more, based on a small toy made in Mexico out of wire. I loved the simple, mobile design, but wanted to make one much larger. Once I started working on it, I remembered I had made a ceramic doll some time earlier that was in storage awaiting her moment...so the "toy" evolved into a full-blown woodland fairie ( spooky and earthy, not a "Disney" type fairie...) who pulls her own gypsy wagon behind her, which itself is made completely our of junk I had laying around my studio, but gorgeous junk ( in my opinion...). The fun is in the fact that I am inside this tiny wagon actually pedaling a modified tricycle, and no one can believe their eyes when I pop out and greet the crowd that always gathers around her. Children and families LOVE this piece and they sometimes will follower her around for a while.
