When I’m not chasing my two kids, I’m busy creating cute creatures and clothing in fabrics, clay, and on canvas or running my business Sugar Plush. I volunteer in San Jose schools helping kids experience the joy of creating and sewing.
Come create and decorate your own plush marshmallow! Join our kid-friendly activity to stuff, sew, and decorate a cute plush toy using new and up-cycled materials. When you’re finished, sign or name your creation on the "Handmade by .." label!
What inspired you to make this project?:
I have two inspirations: my children and FabMo.
My kids and I discovered FabMo at the Maker Faire several years ago. After spending much of our time at their exhibit I realized that it was the process of making things and the sense of accomplishment that made my kids happy and want to stay at the table. I was inspired by them and found myself reconnect to my childhood passion – creating and sewing for fun. I learned to appreciate simplicity and enjoy the unexpected creation process of making things in an open-ended project.
My DIY plush marshmallows are a reflection of how a simple creation can bring great joy. Each marshmallow develops its own personality and it is a true reflection of their creator. No matter the outcome, we get the most joy from the process of creating and I want to share that feeling.
