Good Boy, Sammy

Good Boy, Sammy

Good Boy, Sammy is an interactive hologram experience, where you can interact with a holographic dog (holo-dog) and get him to do tricks on command.

What inspired you to make this project?:
Spring semester I took a class called "Readymades" where we would take objects out in the world and breathe new interactive and artistic life into them based on parameters such as sound, video and emotion. For this particular project the readymade had to involve video. In November of 2015, my 17-year old toy poodle, Sammy, passed away. He lived 1500 miles away with my mother so I never actually got the chance to say goodbye. While visiting my father one week this semester, he showed me an old silver dog bowl that his dog in the 1960s ate out of. I saw that object, remembered some footage I had of Sammy doing tricks and was immediately inspired to bring Sammy back to life as a hologram so others could experience his tiny, yet gigantic personality.
