Can cells learn? To answer this question, we made an Arduino-controlled devices to test the ability of single-celled protozoa to habituate and to perform classical conditioning.

Wallace Marshall is an electrical engineer who studies cell biology. His day job is professor of Biochemistry at UCSF, where he researches how cells assemble geometric structures. His hobbies are electronics and music.
