Bee-ker Space: Save the Bees with Recyled Materials, IoT & 3D Printing
We need to help save our bumbly friends. This workshop will show you how to build OR print simple devices to place around your community to attract bees and encourage pollination. For more advanced projects, or those with the space, we will also be touching on building garden monitoring devices using IoT! Plus, bonus tips, tricks, and bee facts!
YORB2020 is a multi-user social space online, created at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program in response to the quarantine conditions of COVID-19, this project attempts to provide the ITP community with a shared virtual space to hang out, collaborate and work near each other. For Empire State Maker Faire, we showcased some student work. Here are the details:
- Toilet Paper Mania by Yiting Liu A virtual museum in the shape of toilet paper roll invites you to relive, rethink, and reflect your change of behaviors towards the toilet paper mania during COVID-19.
- Bubble World by Sihan Zhang Interact with bubbles in the browser by moving your hands/head.
- ITP Weather Band presented by Schuyler Devos ITP Weather Band is an ITP club dedicated to exploring the sonification and musical implications of weather data.
Let’s ALL StickTogether!
StickTogether Sticker Mosaic Puzzle Poster Kits are the inclusive, community-building, activity with a beautiful reward. The image starts as a mystery, just a blank canvas, and builds as everyone ‘sticks together’ to reveal the image. StickTogether was launched at MakerFaire in 2015 and was created for the Maker Community. Since 2015 Librarians, Media Specialists, Makerspaces, Teachers, Senior Facilities, Special Needs Programs and Community / Faith groups have fueled our growth, helping to spread the StickTogether Effect. In this workshop we will review the StickTogether Story and Product, we will share a few fun, pixel-related activities that you can use to add an extra dimension of fun while creating your StickTogether poster. We will end with all participants coming together around a Virtual Stickerboard which we will create as a group, virtually. There will be time for questions, feedback and conversation while we are ALL ‘sticking together!’
