Welcome to Maker Faire
Maker Faire is the original, worldwide maker event that brings together creators, innovators, and DIY enthusiasts to showcase their projects, share ideas, and show us all what the future can be. Maker Faire is produced by the publishers of Make: magazine.
Maker Faire Bay Area, our Flagship event, will once again take over historic Mare Island, CA from October 18-20, 2024. Join us and thousands of creators, innovators, tinkerers, artists, engineers, and enthusiasts of all ages as we celebrate the power of ingenuity and creativity to shape the world.
Maker Faires Around the World
From tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers, Maker Faire is where novices and experts of all ages come together to show what they’ve made and share what they’ve learned. Each year, hundreds of independently organized Maker Faires occur globally, featuring international makers and highlighting local culture and communities. At all, participants come to share, learn, and get inspired.
Where do Maker Faires happen?
Maker Faires happen in over 40 countries across the globe throughout each year. No two events are the same, though all share the ethos to celebrate the creativity of the maker movement. We invite you to explore Upcoming Faires today and find one to attend or participate in!
How did Maker Faire start?
Maker Faire originated in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2006 when founder Dale Dougherty envisioned bringing the pages of Make: magazine to life, celebrating the stories and people behind the projects, coining the term “maker,” and jumpstarting the maker movement.
Can I organize a Maker Faire?
You can! Celebrate innovation, spark creativity, share skills, and connect the creative people and innovative projects in your community by establishing a Maker Faire in your school, city, or region. Maker Faires come in all shapes and sizes, bringing together makers of all ages!
