Joule thief is a boost circuit to suck the last juice out of a battery. It is made entirely (in most cases) of recycled components. Throwie is LED-lighting/flashing circuit coupled with a magnet to temporarily attach it to most steel surfaces.

M.E.T. "Mike" Scioli is an evolutionary ecologist and environmental scientist by training.
He is an instructor in the School of Natural Sciences at St. Edward's University by day, teaching biology, ecology, environmental science, general science, and, sometimes, mathematics.
