Maker Faire Austin 2007
Theremin for the Masses
Acoustic Stage , Saturday 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM
The Theremin is one of the first electronic instruments ever built, in Russia in 1919. It is played without actual, physical touch! You simply control pitch and volume by moving your hands back and forth within two electromagnetic fields that are radiated off of two separate antennas. Come by for a short demonstration on how the Theremin works, hear how it sounds, and give it a try yourself.
