Developing a Digital License Plate

Smart Plate (SP) is a San Francisco based innovation company that is developing automotive technology in partnership with the CA State DMV and State Legislators. The company is in the process of changing the way companies interact with government agencies. SP is pioneering a Public Private Partnership (P3) model with the state of CA, which allows government agencies to rapidly explore innovative technologies to serve the state’s most pressing problems – revenue generation, government workflow efficiencies, etc.
SP’s Digital Electronic License Plate technology is a dynamic license plate designed to act as an alternate to traditional metal license plates. The device has the ability to display personal messaging, and public safety broadcasts (AMBER alerts, real-time traffic) while vehicles are stopped for 4 or more seconds. When vehicles are in motion, the device display behaves like a normal license plate displaying only vehicle identification and registration information. This technology has the potential to create revenue generating partnerships between state governments, advertisers and motorists.
SP’s creative technology and innovative business model is at the forefront of creating a business environment that spurs ingenuity between the automotive technology sector and the government.
