Maker Faire Detroit 2010
Hands-on Minds

Elliot Washor is a co-founder of Big Picture Learning who organized during Maker Faire a seminar for educators and students to look into hand-mind learning and its role in schools. They will be looking into connecting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), CTE (career and technical education), and the arts by using makers' workshops, sheds, garages, and labs in the school. Elliot will discuss ideas generated by the symposium. He will be joined by Dr. Frank R. Wilson, a member of Big Picture's Board of Directors who has been working to give high school students the opportunity to work with scientists and engineers creating advanced prosthetics for amputees. Charlie Mojkowski, a Senior Consultant with Big Picture Learning, will facilitate the conversation.
