Tearoom for Robots: Making an Interactive Environment

  • Tearoom for Robots: Making an Interactive Environment
Anderson Theater Sunday 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM

In the age of open-source software and hardware, electronic technology has become cheaper, more readily available and easier to use. John Marshall collaborates with others to explore the relationship between things and people beyond the purely ergonomic or functional. Marshall makes interactive, physical systems that have the capability to adapt to people, digital information and environmental conditions. These have been at the scale of domestic products, furniture and small buildings. Recent projects have made use of parametric modeling, digital fabrication and networked sensors. Marshall will present and discuss some of this work and the ideas that underpin it.
