Maker Faire Bay Area 2009
Bottle Models

Location:   Expo Hall  283

I build very small scale models of historic West Virginia coal camp scenes inside clear glass bottles. I use polymer clay, epoxy resin, styrene, wood, foam, and other materials to create these scenes.

About the Maker(s)

Ole Bye Ole Bye [
Ole Bye grew up in Vermont, building model railroads, and after a long rest, put those skills back to work in creating these West Virginia scenes inside glass bottles. He uses a variety of long skinny tools, mostly home-made from bits of wire, to shape and position the scenery and buildings inside the bottles. Although the scenes are fictional, the structures are based on real buildings in southern West Virginia's coalfields region.
