Armed with LEDs, phosphorescent ink, and polymorph plastic, among other "smart materials," Syuzi Pakhchyan, the author of Fashioning Technology: A DIY Intro to Smart Crafting, will show you how to incorporate a tech flair to your crafty projects.
Stop by and learn how to:
• print with thermo- and photochromic inks to create textiles with dynamic, shifting patterns;
• sculpt polymorph plastic into toys and lighting for your home;
• animate your projects by incorporating SMAs (Shape Memory Alloys);
• create soft circuits using conductive threads and fabric; and much more.
Syuzi Pakhchyan is a user-experience designer and tinkerer working in Los Angeles, Calif. She is the author of "Fashioning Technology: A DIY Intro to Smart Crafting." Her work explores the intersection of culture and technology through the experimentation, investigation, and design of interactive technological systems for a range of cultural contexts.
