At this Swap-O-Rama-Rama you'll find a host of talent brought together to teach you how to transform your new/used duds into works of your own. Together they bring you: DIY Stations where you can learn many wonderful ways to create out of textile reuse, Sewing Stations where local designers will teach you fresh clothing mod tricks, on site Silk Screeners & Stencilers with a host of original designs and extraordinary local designers who'll show off their work in the Swap-O-Rama-Rama reuse fashion show.
Of course the core of the swap is the gigantic piles of free clothing (several thousand pounds!) sorted into categories: pants, shirts, skirts, sweaters etc. These piles are the collective total of each guest’s contribution of any size bag of unwanted clothes so clean out those closets and let go of what's no longer inspiring. Take home as much clothing as you can carry. Remainders go to a local women's shelter.

Future Craft Collective
We at the Future Craft Collective are striving to shift a paradigm for kids by teaching them the beauty of not just making it themselves, but making it with what's around them, thereby creating their own unique style. One way that avoids the "aw, mom" reaction that often accompanies a good old fashioned lecture on downstream impact is getting kids out of the "buy a kit at hobby lobby and assemble" mode and back into the "scrape, scrounge, dig, build, create" mode that comes with salvaging and upcycling. The fact that it's environmentally friendly can be almost secondary to the sheer creative challenge of dissecting your raw materials and deconstructing the stuff around you that otherwise might head to the landfill. Plus it's fun and it looks good.

The DIY Factory
The DIY Factory is an annual celebration of creativity that brings together a diverse group of cutting edge independent craftsters, artisans, designers, and musicians to showcase their talents to the general public in a market type setting. It gives many people their first opportunity at being a vendors and allows those that are "old hands" at selling their goods a fresh and new type of market to connect to the community.
The 2nd annual DIY Factory will showcase 50+ alternative arts and crafts vendors epitomizing the Do-It-Yourself ethic. You won't see your grandma's country crafts, painted bluebonnets or jams and jellies at our fair. You will, however, see unique fashions and accessories, art dolls, handmade house wares, jewelry, found object art, paintings, silk screened tees and totes, knitted goods, and many other one-of-a-kind hand crafted oddities.
The fashion show will feature a range of emerging to established local designers from practical to fantastical.
Established local musicians from an assortment of genres will provide the musical entertainment, as well.
This year we have added a community information area to our set up. There, you will be able obtain information from local organizations that reflect the DIY ethics, promote the arts, fashion and music scene, as well as non-profits.
We will even provide materials and direction at a Make-n-Take area for guests of all ages to get their craft on!
The first 100 guests will receive a free handmade goody bag stuffed with some great loot from our vendors and sponsors!
Food and Drinks will be available.
