Lithium-ion Plug-In Hybrid Conversion
Hybrid Plugs, Inc. will do a live Lithium-ion "Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle" conversion of a Toyota Prius at the 2008 Austin Maker Faire. The conversion will be done in stages over the course of two days allowing for interaction between the attending audience and the converters. The Prius once converted with be able to achieve over 100 mpg for the first 40 miles each day. Also on display, will be a completed Ford Escape Hybrid converted by Hybrid Plugs, Inc. that achieves over 50 mpg for the first 50 miles each day.
