About the Maker(s)

David Merrill

David Merrill prototypes new ways to expand human capabilities with creative, thoughtfully designed technology. He is a graduate student at the MIT Media Lab, and his research projects investigate techniques for real-world attention-sensitive information foraging, as well as novel tangible interfaces for information and media manipulation. He is also an enthusiastic inventor of new electronic musical instruments. Merrill has shown installation artwork in California, Massachusetts and Maine, and has performed with rock bands and an experimental music troupe all playing instruments of their own design.
