Yes, it’s possible to stumble upon a passion and fulfill a dream late in life. Alicia Parnell became so passionate about making fresh food that she began selling wholesale to a few grocery stores and then opened a deli-type “To Go” eatery and kitchen in Burlingame, California in 2006. The business is going strong, having won the San Mateo County “As Fresh As It Gets” Award for 2007/2008; included in the Best of Yelp.com; featured on CBS Channel 5’s “Eye on the Bay” with Liam Mayclem; landing front page in the Food & Wine Section of the San Mateo County Times; and listed in Greenopia and Green Zebra.
