Streetbeats!
Music Stage 3 , Sunday 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
Streetbeats is an audio/visual musical feast performed by Drummer/percussionist "John F. King II." All of John's drumset and percussion instruments consist of discarded and second hand items such as cookware(pot&pans), #10 size foodservice cans, % gal. buckets, 30 gal. garbage cans, etc. All meticulously arranged in specific order that create melodic tones in line with harmonic scale. The show is hi-enrgy and fun. The music is an eclectic blend of World beats and rhythms ranging from Celtic to Afro-cuban to Jazz to American Indian to Polynesian, rock, hip-hop and more. John has become well known and developed a huge fan base as a street performer at the Ferry building on the Embacadero @ S.F.,CA

About the Maker(s)
John King II
[
John started his professional career in Sacramento, California with the popular Northern California band, The Sharks. He is a creative genius who embraces each performance as if it were his last. His music has taken him the world over. John has had the pleasure of performing with such artists as Eddie McGee (Tower of Power), Ginger Baker (Cream), Jerry Martini (sly and the Family Stone), and many others. He also performed in the Hawaiian Reggae band True Colors with Boom Gaspar keyboard player for Pearl Jam, with The Williamsport Symphony Orchestra in a "Tribute to Motown", and James Brown drummers Clyde Stubblefied and John "Jabo" Starks.
Relying on his versatility, John has played every style of music from Blues, Country, R&B, Jazz, Reggae, Classic Rock and Metal. His main influences come from James Brown, Parliament/Funkadellic, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana and Prince. Some say the "F" in his name stands for Funk-Master! Come judge for yourself, the downright nasty edge John brings to his playing. This man is as fun to watch as he is to listen to! "A SHOW WITHIN A SHOW!"
