Important Highlights for Getting to Maker Faire

Getting to World Maker Faire is easier this year than ever before, with increased service on mass transit, expanded ride share opportunities, and two large parking lots. See below for all your options and advice on the best ways to get here.

UPDATED PARKING INFORMATION:

  • ATTENDEES: Public parking for World Maker Faire attendees will be available at two convenient locations with free shuttle service provided. Lots open at 8:00 am and close at 7:00 pm each day. See the BY CAR information below.
  • MAKERS, SPONSORS, PRESENTERS: Refer to communications received from the Maker team with instructions for how you should plan to travel to World Maker Faire.

  • Mass transit is the best option for getting to World Maker Faire. NYSCI is an easy ride from all five boroughs, New Jersey, Long Island, and Westchester via all regional rail networks.

    Please note there is another event in the park this weekend. Please follow the signage for Maker Faire parking and foot traffic.

    Please note that there is no parking at the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) or Citi Field.

    World Maker Faire is very well attended! We strongly suggest you share rides or take alternative transportation instead of driving.

    Subway

    Take #7 train to 111th St Station. Walk four blocks to NYSCI. The #7 train runs direct to World Maker Faire from Hudson Yards, Times Square and Grand Central Terminal. You can also transfer to the #7 train from all other lines throughout the subway system. Use Google Maps to help navigate via mass transit. Enter “New York Hall of Science” as your destination.     Long Island Rail Road

    The LIRR will run special service on the Port Washington Branch to the Mets-Willets Point station for World Maker Faire. You can also take LIRR to the Woodside station and connect to the #7 subway (see above.) Visit mta.info/lirr and use the TripPlanner to find your itinerary. As you exit the train at Mets-Willets Point station, turn right to enter Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Follow signs to World Maker Faire.

    Metro North

    Connect at Grand Central Terminal to the #7 subway (see above.)

    Bus

    Q23 or Q58 to Corona Avenue and 108 Street. Q48 to 111 Street and Roosevelt Avenue.

    BY BICYCLE

    Bike Valet will be available at the 111th Street entrance to NYSCI. It’s free to park your bike! Bike Valet hours are:

    • SATURDAY & SUNDAY — 9:30 am – 6:30 pm

    TAXI & RIDESHARE

    If you need to take a car for whatever reason, we strongly advise taking taxis or a ride share. Parking is limited at World Maker Faire and NYSCI’s neighboring community could do without excessive traffic congestion. Please help us minimize the negative impact on our neighbors. The drop off address for NYSCI is 47-01 111th Street.

    Parking will be available at these two alternate locations with shuttles provided. ADA parking is available in both areas.

  • Flushing Meadows Corona Park: $35, cash — Parking is located within the same park where NYSCI is located. Free shuttle service will be provided throughout the day. Follow these instructions for the most direct route straight to parking.
    1. From the Long Island Expressway (I-495) Westbound: Take Exit 22B. Turn right on Rodman St. Immediately get into left lane and proceed through traffic light into the Park.
      From the Long Island Expressway (I-495) Eastbound: Take Exit 22E. Turn left onto College Point Blvd. At the second traffic light, turn left into the Park.
      From the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) Northbound: Take Exit 12A onto College Point Blvd. At the third light, make a left into the Park.
      From the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) Southbound: Take Exit 12A onto College Point Blvd. Turn right into the Park.

  • Queens College: $25, cash — Save time and money by going to this lot, located just two miles from NYSCI. Free shuttle service will be provided throughout the day. Your destination is Reeves Avenue and 153rd Street Queens, NY.
    1. From the Long Island Expressway (I-495) Westbound: Take Exit 23. Turn left on Main St. Turn left on Reeves Ave. Turn right on 153rd St to enter into the lot.
      From the Long Island Expressway (I-495) Eastbound: Take Exit 23.Turn right on Main St. Turn left on Reeves Ave. Turn right on 153rd St. to enter the lot.
      The Long Island Expressway is easily accessible from the Grand Central Parkway, Van Wyck Expressway and other major highways. Use Google Maps to help navigate. Your destination is Reeves Avenue and 153rd Street Queens, NY.

    PARK AND RIDE

    Paid parking lots available throughout New York City. Park anywhere near the #7 line and you will have an easy commute while avoiding event traffic.
