Purina ONE

Visitors to the Purina ONE booth at Maker Faire will have the opportunity to create and invent their own do-it-yourself (DIY) puzzle feeder projects to help enrich the feeding experiences of their cats; gather inspiration from the DIY wall u2013 a gallery of projects created from Purina ONE's cat community; and interact with a fun and shareable area at the booth. What you feed your cat is just as important as HOW you feed your cat. Cats are designed to hunt for their food, and while domestic cats have it much easier they still benefit from the stimulation that comes from the hunt. Incorporating a puzzle feeder in addition to a bowl encourages your cat to work for her food, stimulating her mind and body and helping her live her True Nature.

When we make, play and share, we bring meaning to everyday life, and build cultures together. In this session, Mitch Resnick and David Gauntlett each discuss three objects which show the power of making. They show that making is learning, fosters happiness, and is true social participation. How can we build better opportunities and tools for making? Mitch Resnick is professor and head of the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab. He was awarded the McGraw Prize in Education 2011. David Gauntlett is professor and co-director of media research at University of Westminster, London. His books include 'Making is Connecting'.

The Good Life Lab: Digital Homesteader Tools

The inspirational story of how one couple ditched their careers in New York City to move to rural New Mexico, where they made, built, invented, foraged, and grew all they needed to live self-sufficiently. Mikey Sklar discusses the technical knowledge used to run a digital homestead, including planet saving projects such as: building a home from waste materials, installing pv solar systems, recovering electric vehicles from the waste stream, and advanced food fermentation with the help of microcontrollers.
