Back to Meet the Makers

Autodesk

Exhibit

Autodesk 123D is free software integrated with content and fabrication services. At Maker Faire NY Autodesk will be hosting a hands on makerspace where participants can have hands on experiences with our free apps and 3d printers. We also will be hosting an educational hack-a-thon where educators will be answering the question ""How do you use a 3D printer in your classroom?

Beta LAYOUT Ltd

Exhibit

Scared of Surface Mount Components? At Maker Faire, Beta LAYOUT will be taking the fear out of SMD assembly for hobbyists and small batch electronics. At our workshop, you will assemble and reflow a PCB to make a flashing badge. Our workstation is easy, safe and can make your workbench into a professional assembly line.

Beta LAYOUT has been servicing hobbyists, designers and students for over 20 years with PCBs and other components for electronic designers. By combining our many orders we have cut costs, eliminated tooling and shared the savings with designers globally. Prototypes made easy, as our 30,000 customers might say.

bhold: Responsive Product Design in Action via 3D Printing

Presenter

It's time for consumer manufacturing to speed up to meet consumer needs. Beyond rapid prototyping, 3D printing will allow product cycles to speed up, which will lead to better, more innovative products. Designers can be more responsive to consumer feedback, bringing us to a new era of responsive product design. 3D printing allows anyone to map an idea from concept to production more quickly than before and with direct feedback from consumers
New design startup bhold will illustrate with prototypes, demos & showcase of final products.

Blokify

Exhibit

Blokify building 3d modeling iOS application that allows everyone, including children to quickly and easily make a mental image into a virtual creation via our block based modeling system.

Bold Colors for the 3D Printing Experience

Exhibit

We are bringing color to the 3D printing experience. Color-morphing plastic responds to heat; Decapede electronics drive up to 10 extruders; and bold casing colors could broaden the appeal of having a 3D printer in your home

Brook Drumm: 3DP for the People

Presenter

MAKE contributing editor and maker David Lang asks Printrbot CEO Brook Drumm hard questions about affordable personal 3D printer market, the future of DIY 3Dfabrication, and when exactly he's going to move Printrbot out of his garage.

Build a Fitness Tracker with Ultra-Low-Power Arduino

Presenter

Taming power consumption of billion of connected devices in the near future will be key. In this presentation we will dig into the low level optimization of an Arduino - you will learn about the tools to do so. Alternate power sources like coin cell and super caps will be used and a wireless communication to your favored smartphone based on Bluetooth(TM) SMART established. Projects like fitness tracker, plant monitoring sensors and most of your fantastic ideas becoming possible - easily. The used PCB design will be made available under OHW.

Building with ModiBot

Exhibit

ModiBot is a 3d printed, figure-based build system of interchangeable ball & socket connectors. Users choose from over 400 parts to create their own imaginative creatures, robots, heroes and play scenes.

Can be assembled in minutes!

Exhibit

The first 3D printer that can be assembled almost without screws and nuts. Very fast to put together, different colors, stand alone (no need for computer), option for dual extruder.

Capturing Dinosaurs

Exhibit

Come join education staff from the American Museum of Natural History to work with youth-developed 3D dinosaur bones and construct your own diorama.

Central Jersey Robotics Group

Exhibit

Students present Sumo Robots; "How to Talk to a Robot" Visual Basic robotics instruction; Solid Doodle; Sumo Robots & ESRA 3-D printed Robot Head on Thingiverse; Hack-A-Toy robot construction techniques; Raspi PiFace Digital

Central Ohio RepRap and MakerBot User Group

Exhibit

CORMUG has been holding free monthlyrnmeetups at the Columbus Idea Foundry since 2009. Everyone is welcome to attend whether you own a printer, want to buy a printer, or just want to see what 3D printing is all about.

Charlesworth Dynamics

Exhibit

Sci-fi gadgets and gizmos from the Third Dimension! Charlesworth Dynamics has fun 3D printed iris-door boxes and other goodies for sale from the creator of the Octopod, a 2012 World Maker Faire, NY Editor's Choice Winner.

cityBoarding

Exhibit

Cityboarding is a way to never miss a bus again. A web app connected to a 3D printed bus will allow you to choose where to board.

ClothBot Designs

Exhibit

Open, hackable personal 3D printing lets you embrace and extend the technology in new and unexpected ways. Fuse plastic on paper to make lamp shades and glider wings, or print finger bones into fabric to make robot hands.rn

Collaboration in an Open Innovation Environment: Designers in Thingiverse

Presenter

Product designers increasingly contribute their work to remix communities, communities in which designs are shared, modified, combined and implemented. Our study focuses on a community called Thingiverse, in which designers share files that can be used to create 3D printed objects. Our analysis suggests that analysis of remix network structure may provide ways of tracing innovation processes and detecting the emergence of new ideas, combination of disparate ideas. As a result, it may be possible to encourage innovation by guiding interested inventors toward potential pairs of structurally separated and conceptually diverse ideas.

Color Life

Exhibit

Inspired by the Game of Life, each edge on this sculpture draws its color from its neighbors. Touch one of the boards and alter the pattern!

ConceptFORGE

Exhibit

RepRap Simpson and RepRap Wally are two very cool and experimental 3D printers. They are very cheap to make, open source, and use no linear rails. Once you see them move, you will be mesmerized.

Congo

Exhibit
