Fon Davis — Creative Director

In his two decade career, Fon Davis has worked on over 30 feature films. As a alumnus of the Industrial Light and Magic Model Shop, Fon has worked on features such as Star Wars, Pearl Harbor, Starship Troopers, Galaxy Quest, Terminator III, Mission Impossible III and the Matrix series. In addition to his work in visual effects, Fon has also worked in Disney's art departments as a concept designer/model maker, and on several stop motion projects including The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline. More recently, Fon was the Miniatures Supervisor on both Big Miracle with Drew Barrymore, and also on Neill Blomkamp's upcoming feature, Elysium. Having started Fonco Creative Services in 2000, Fon also writes and develops his own projects, frequently using his CG skills alongside practical model making. With his vast experience, Fon is well-placed to discuss the art and craft of model making for cinema, from concept design to hybrid practical and cgi effects, with a particular expertise in knowing where models and miniatures can play a role in today's digital world.....
Sean House — Model/Fabrication Department Supervisor
For over 15 years, Sean has been an active member of the Bay Area Film Community working on over 38 Feature Films, multiple TV Series and hundreds of commercials. He has served as Property Master on projects as diverse as George Lucas's Red Tails and the TV Series Fairly Legal. As set dresser and prop maker he has worked on such movies as Milk, The Pursuit of Happyness , the Matrix II and III, and TV series such as Parenthood, and Monk. Sean also has honed his skills in the FX department, with work as a special effects technician on such projects as Black August, The Californians, Bee Season and the TV series Trauma as well as a model maker on films such as Priest, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Terminator Salvation. He most recently led the Model Department at 32Ten Studios for Practical effects work on the upcoming films "Lone Ranger" and "Pacific Rim". When he is not on set, Sean is an active film community leader: In 2001 he founded the Bay Area Film Alliance and in 2004 he co-founded the Oakland Film Center, a film business co-operative which currently encompasses 32 individual businesses. He has also been a frequent industry adviser to Mayors in San Francisco and Oakland, and continues to advocate for the Bay Area film community on both the local and state front. Sean's motto is "Semper Gumby" (always flexible) and he likes puppies.

Don Bies — Owner/Director/Designer

Don began his career working as a mechanical designer on the 1986 Academy Award winning film THE FLY, followed shortly after on THE FLY II. He began his career with Lucasfilm operating the remote control R2-D2 for personal appearances and commercials while acting as the Lucasfilm Archives curator. As curator, he organized a number of exhibitions, and eventually began working at Industrial Light & Magic on INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE and GHOSTBUSTERS II. He remained at the ILM model shop until it was sold off as Kerner Optical in 2006. As a supervising model maker, his credits include the STAR WARS SPECIAL EDITIONS, the STAR WARS prequels, the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films, GALAXY QUEST, PETER PAN and countless television commercials. With White Room Artifacts, he conceived, designed and curated the exhibition "NASA: A Human Adventure", as well as supervised the miniature effects on TV commercials for COMCAST, GOOGLEPLAY and EDMUNDS.COM
