RepRap: Self Replicating 3D Printer
World Maker Faire 2017
These are RepRap 3D printers that melt plastic filament and build solid physical objects. The coolest thing that a RepRap can print is another RepRap. Most of these 3D printers' parts are printed plastic parts!
What inspired you to make this project?:
On April 4th 2007 I received email from my brother telling me about a project he'd heard of to make a self-replicating machine (one that can make physical copies of itself), and I was hooked. In 2009 I started building my own (which I believe was the 2nd RepRap Mendel made in the U.S.).
The ability to design shapes/devices/machines on a computer and then just have them made for you, automated, as many as you want, was too cool to pass up.
