California Poets in the Schools serve as living models of a deep commitment to poetry and imaginative language. We are professional published writers with diverse backgrounds. We share our creative process when teaching poetry to K-12 students.
Come and gather at the Poetry Crossing to make poems of all shapes and sizes! Engage in a variety of interactive and fun processes designed to help you "find" your poems. Leave your creations at the Faire or take home to share with others.
What inspired you to make this project?:
Poetry is making! That is what we at California Poets in the Schools have done since our nonprofit organization was founded 53 years ago. Annually we reach 28,000 school children in public and private schools, juvenile halls, hospitals, libraries and other community settings. We believe the Arts (A in STEAM) need to be showcased and encouraged along with technology and innovation. Maker Faire embodies the spirit in which we teach and reach children.
