Goliath CNC

We are excited to present the very last prototype of Goliath - CNC out of the box – a portable robot that can be placed directly on the surface you want to work, where it moves autonomously. This new method solves many problems of the traditional CNC machines, as limited work area, high footprint, expensive price and portability, and makes Goliath the only autonomous CNC machine tool for manufacturing boundless, anywhere. Goliath is the first tool developed by Springa.

What inspired you to make this project?:
Few years ago, the digital fabrication has reached a great success, especially the 3D printing technology. With two friends, I bought a multipurpose desktop fabrication machine, also for milling. Struck by enthusiasm and success of the "Maker" movement, we tried to do something innovative for the makers and in this field, where the main topic was always and mostly 3D printing. So, I developed my thesis project on desktop milling machines (for hobbyists) and there I found the problem: the work area is often pretty small, usually as wide as an A4 paper sheet. Therefore, as a designer and DIY lover, I am unable to realize a medium/big size object, for example a chair or a table! The wish to solve this problem took us to develop Goliath.
