Rounok Joardar
Rounok is a senior in the Electrical Engineering department of University of Texas at Austin, graduating in Dec. 2016. He recently completed an engineering co-op program at St. Jude Medical and was a Intel Science Talent Search finalist in 2011.
Kuntal Joardar
Kuntal has a degree in Electrical Engineering and resides in the Dallas, Texas area. His professional interests are in the area of modeling of semiconductor devices. His hobbies include designing and building electronic circuits and photography.
Etherlux is a low cost Raspberry Pi based internet controlled, wifi enabled, user programmable, power outlet system. It allows far greater control than similar commercial units. Features include PWM, complementary, and timed outputs, plus metrology.
What inspired you to make this project?:
I am a college senior. Over the last four years I have attended many classes, taken man many tests, and completed several projects. But what was really bothering me was whether or not I could apply all that stuff I supposedly learned to actually make something that actually works and serves a purpose. Etherlux came out of that. I needed a way to control my lights and fans in my apartment. Got it done... and then some.
