We are LaCoolCo, and since 2013 we have been working to bring down the barriers between electronics and botanics. Our goal is to allow children (and grown-ups!) to discover nature through open source gardening while developing electronic literacy.
Makers and growers, unite! We're introducing Le Petit COOL, an Arduino-compatible open source greenhouse kit that anyone can build. Control your plant's temperature, light and water, and learn everything you can about it with a timelapse video feed!
What inspired you to make this project?:
The fact that even if there is nothing more open and widely available than knowledge on nature (we've been doing it for thousands of years), people are dangerously starting to rely on proprietary devices for their connected gardens. We developed our greenhouse to provide a fun way to make children and adults understand that a living plant isn't merchandise, that tomatos don't grow in supermarket shelves and that what happens inside their glossy devices isn't exactly magic...
