What inspired you to make this project?:
I am a virtual reality developer, but Samsung's GearVR was not available in my country. I decided to create my own compatible device, which works really well for development and app testing. However, the project grew a lot bigger and the interest from outside the developer community was immense. Open Gear is the idea of creating a first class VR headset which anyone can 3d print and assemble.
