Sonoma Tintype

Sonoma Tintype

One of the early forms of photography know as the "Wet Plate Collodion Process" was a relative simple method of making extremely sharp, clear photographs. Invented by Frederick Scott Archer and open sourced in "The Chemist" in 1851.

What inspired you to make this project?:
An interest in the early history of photography. Very few know of this process, have not seen it in action nor have seen an actual Tintype (on a piece of sheet steel) or an Ambrotype (on a piece of glass).
