Innovation Celebration: Maker Faire @ IDF -- Thursday, August 21, 2008, 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Join Intel for the IDF closing-day celebration featuring the Maker Faire. It’s Intel’s way of thanking you for attending IDF and making it a success. Come experience an eclectic mix of wild and wondrous creations that blend art and science with engineering and craft. It’s a unique DIY showcase of creativity and ingenuity that combines high-tech wizardry and low-tech craftsmanship. You’ll see the original, the unique, and the bizarre, all in one fun-filled party. Meet the makers and talk to them about their amazing projects. You’ll see it, but you still may not believe it.

There’ll be food, drink, activities, and inspiration aplenty.

X-Cycle R2 Electric Vehicle
The X-Cycle is a project to develop the worlds first truly practical electric vehicle. This is the second version of a ground up, full custom design, and is nearing completion. Based on the first version we expect the R2 to get a top speed of 75mph, have a range of over 150 miles per charge (in real world driving) and have a potential production cost of about $20k. The X-Cycle is primarily a one person effort, although a loose knit group of interested enthusiasts have helped a lot! More »
