Taktia will be demonstrating our first-of-its-kind handheld CNC machine. Attendees will be able to try out our working prototype, which is the size of a handheld router and can be used to precisely cut shapes of any size out of wood, plastic, or sheet metal, directly from a digital design. How does it work? The user loads a 2D shape that they want to cut, and then positions the tool manually in the approximate area of the tool path. The tool then uses a camera to track where it is, and can adjust its own position to move the cutting device to be exactly on the plan. To cut a shape, the user just approximately follows the desired path by following graphics on an onboard screen, and the tool constantly self-adjusts to follow the plan perfectly.
