Presented by the author of the new book Sustainable Homebrewing, this workshop will focus on making choices for equipment and ingredients that are kind to the environment when setting up a home brewery. Also, the best techniques for brewing sustainably will be discussed as part of an overview of home brewing. A good summary of the key steps to making good beer will be included. Some hands on features can be included if the workshop is held at the location of the Sustainable Homebrewing Exhibit.




Cool Tools for the Maker

I will talk about the best of 1,500 tools for do-it-yourselvers, showing off a few of them in person, and also talk about how I successfully self-published this best seller and the tools I used for that. The point of this book is that you don't need to buy a lot of stuff. It is more important just to know these tools exist and that you can use them yourself.



The SandBox 3D Printer

The SandBox is an open-source powder 3D printer that uses familiar RAMPS architecture and HP inkjet heads to print 3D models. Our new open sourced software is flexible enough to support home brew printers, as well as SLS exp



First Annual San Jose Adult Soapbox Derby

Soapbox cars are otherwise known as gravity cars. Essentially, they are three or four wheeled vehicles that are only powered by gravity. Soapbox derbies are still fairly popular for children with nationally organized races. However, there are only a handful of adult soapbox derby events across the country. We have participated in two events; one in Nevada City, CA and the other in Portland, OR. Both events were unique in their own regard. We are ready to add our own twist to the adult soapbox derby arena with the first annual San Jose Adult Soapbox Derby. There will be three classes of cars including artistic, speed, and ultimate.





3D welder

A 3D printer, box style, approximately 2 feet square. The main frame is built from welded steel square tubing. Motion and welding is controlled with a TinyG board and software.

We are a new neighborhood Mini-Makerspace in downtown San Francisco. We are purposely small at 2,500 square feet so makers and hackers can easily get to know each other. We are a community of hackers that love collaborating.
