Maker Faire showcases the amazing work of all kinds and ages of makers—anyone who is embracing the do-it-yourself (or do-it-together) spirit and wants to share their accomplishments with an appreciative audience.
1. You can enter your project and we'll consider it as a last-minute addition. Tell us what you would like to bring, and we will do our best to see if there is space to accommodate it.
2. We have a new program for people that would like to volunteer their time and make an invaluable contribution to the success of Maker Faire. Get behind-the-scenes experience, and help make the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth happen! Learn more here.
3. Plan to come as an attendee, enjoy the show and support the Maker movement by purchasing your tickets early!
The first step to participating in Maker Faire is to submit an entry that tells us about yourself and your project. Entries can be submitted from individuals as well as from groups, such as hobbyist clubs and schools. Please provide a short description of what you make and what you would like to bring to Maker Faire, including links to photographs and/or videos of your project. We particularly encourage exhibits that are interactive and that highlight the process of making things.
Here are just some of the topics that we're looking for:
You can apply as a:
Makers : Individuals, groups, schools and organizations that would like to demonstrate what they make and/or how it works; interactive exhibits are encouraged. For Maker groups, please have one point person to coordinate your efforts. No fee to exhibit for non-commercial exhibits.
- Commercial Makers : Individuals who would like to sell products along with demonstrating what they make at their Maker exhibit. Please submit a Maker application and indicate that you are a Commercial Maker. There is a fee of $325 for a standard set-up (fee due April 27th). Please note, companies or commercial entities do not qualify as Commercial Makers. If you are a company or commercial entity, we have great opportunities available—please see Sponsors.
Presentation : Individuals and groups who would like to talk about an idea or project of interest to the Maker community, OR makers who are interested in demonstrating what they make and how it works in a stage setting. Presentations are typically 20 or 50 minutes, with some time for Q&A. Select "Presenter" and submit a Presenter application.
Music Performer : Musicians and entertainers who would like to perform at Maker Faire. Fill out the Music Performer application.
Application Form: Please go to the following URL and fill out the entry form to tell us about your project: http://makerfaire.com/bayarea/2012/entry/
Crafters: If you are an indie crafter, and your primary intent is to sell your products at Maker Faire, apply to Bazaar Bizarre: www.bazaarbizarre.org. Bazaar Bizarre is an independent craft faire held within Maker Faire. Both Commercial Makers and Bazaar Bizarre vendors are a part of Maker Faire, but Bazaar Bizarre is an area dedicated to people who are only selling their wares. Commercial Makers exhibit in various areas of the event, demonstrating what they make and selling as an side-addition to their DIY demonstration, not the focus of their exhibit.
Sponsors: We welcome sponsors at Maker Faire. For more information about becoming a sponsor, please see Sponsors.
Volunteer Training: For information about making an invaluable contribution at Maker Faire, please see our new Maker-In-Training program.
Immediately following your submission, you will receive and email confirming that we have your application. If you don't receive this email, let us know: makers@makerfaire.com. Acceptances are sent via email approximately 2 months before the show. Once accepted, makers are asked to complete a Maker Agreement.
Ongoing correspondence from the Maker Faire team will keep you up-to-date on open houses, town hall meetings, maker check-in and load-in logistics.
Aspiring makers are encouraged to follow Maker Faire on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with the latest news on makers and Maker Faire.
We look forward to seeing you at Maker Faire Bay Area!
