Metal Arts Techniques
Demonstrations of various simple metal arts techniques people can easily master and use on their own. Demonstrations change every three hours, and when feasible, are make-it-and-take-it projects. Techniques include chain making, riveting, jewelry from soda cans and wire crochet.

Accessorize with Toys!
Ever wonder what to do with those random small toy parts too dear to toss but no longer any fun? Learn how to revitalize old toys into bangles, earrings and brooches by utilizing basic jewelry techniques. San Francisco designers, emiko oye and Shana Astrachan (members of the Metal Arts Critique Collective) will show you how to approach jewelry making with alternative materials and simple craft tools. Participants are encouraged to bring small plastic and rubber toy parts to work with or contribute. All ages welcome; especially great for families.

Metal Arts Guild
Members from MAG will run participatory metal arts and jewelry workshops such as fold-forming, making woven chain, and helping to make a 12'x27' art installation from recycled pencils. In between workshops, live demos will be given on working with Argentium silver, and on the ancient Korean technique of Keum-boo. A Recycled Jewelry Exhibition, displayed in MAG's hand-wrought steel floor cases, will showcase members' artwork.

Cardboard Surfboards
Hollow, translucent surfboards, with a corrugated cardboard core structure, assembled from notched 2D cross sections cut on a small CNC router. The surfboard design and rendering software was built with Web technologies.

The art of Blacksmithing requires a vast knowledge of metal techniques and skills. Tool making, heat treating, design and craftsmanship. It is the total embodiment of these skills which makes a true Artisan. Join me in a celebration of the Art of Blacksmithing.

Fab@Home version 2 Cornell University
A new Fab@Home has been developed at Cornell University. By changing the electronics and mechanics, the cost was reduced from $2500 to roughly $1500. These changes reduce build effort, required skill of assembler, and increase system speed without sacrificing accuracy. We are also using the Fab@Home to create food structures that are otherwise extremely difficult to create by professional chefs.

Cupcake CNC
Cupcake CNC is a simple, low-cost CNC machine for 3D prototyping, foam milling, cupcake decorating, and general derring-do. The hardware design is open source, and the platform is designed to be completely hackable and upgradeable.

Santa Rosa Tool Library
The Santa Rosa Tool Library offers Sonoma County residents hand and power tools for home repair and landscaping at no cost, only an overdue fee if the tool is returned late; Just like borrowing a book from your local public library. SRTL would like to share our the concept of lending programs to Make Fairers.

Mass Customized Design and Fabrication for Architectural Scale Structures. We provide consumers with easy-to-use online tools that engage them in the design and manufacturing process and enables them to become the producers of their own architectural-scale designs. Through our web platform, anyone can upload and transform their own digital design – any inhabitable accessory structure, from a doghouse to a backyard art studio - into a customized kit of interlocking parts that are locally manufactured and that can be easily assembled by the user.
