Future Craft Collective
We at the Future Craft Collective are striving to shift a paradigm for kids by teaching them the beauty of not just making it themselves, but making it with what's around them, thereby creating their own unique style. One way that avoids the "aw, mom" reaction that often accompanies a good old fashioned lecture on downstream impact is getting kids out of the "buy a kit at hobby lobby and assemble" mode and back into the "scrape, scrounge, dig, build, create" mode that comes with salvaging and upcycling. The fact that it's environmentally friendly can be almost secondary to the sheer creative challenge of dissecting your raw materials and deconstructing the stuff around you that otherwise might head to the landfill. Plus it's fun and it looks good.

Billy Moon
Gerald & Emily: Team Moon
Gerald is powered by a two-wheel, gyroscopicly stabilized drive with a custom interchangeable gear box. It's a fully invertible drum bot that competes as both a heavyweight and as a superheavyweight multi-bot with little sister Emily. Gerald weighs in at 205 lbs or 335 lbs, depending on configuration. It's capable of running for two consecutive matches without any servicing. The 80 pound drum spins at 4000 rpm's with two 1.5"x1.5" S7 tool steel teeth. It's protected by 1/4" to 1/2" titanium with shock mounted 1" thick 4130 side deflectors and optional 5/8" thick coil-shock mounted AR-400 top armor (as protection against the Judge.)

You Rock
My project involves Texas river rocks. I create caricatures from odd-shaped rocks and call them "Women That Rock." I have done 4,000 of them. I also use smooth river rocks to create individual people on rocks and create them in 5 to 10 minutes while the person waits. My artcar represents what I do. It is called the Women Rock Artcar. It is a Chevy Astrovan.

Ceiling Fan Sign
It is a 5 blade ceiling fan with LEDs mounted vertically on the end of the blades. It scrolls a message 360 degrees above the tips of the blades. The message is input using a computer keyboard plugged into a radio transmitter. It is a mono color display. I use a C8051F364 to control the LEDs. The microcontroller was designed by Silicon Laboratories in Austin, TX.
